Overview & Objectives

With so many materials and techniques available, it’s difficult to know which to use. We’ve all been burned trying new materials only to find problems later. Adhesives and restorative materials have evolved. Bioactive materials are the latest buzz. As our population continues to age, cutting edge materials can help our patients keep their teeth and health.

With the current staffing challenges, we must simplify our techniques while incorporating new useful and exciting technology. No "one size fits all" material exists, so dentists must be familiar with a plethora of products. Learn how to use the newest techniques with confidence. This course was developed by an active practitioner specifically with busy dentists in mind.

The focus of this practical course is on the following topics: Anterior Direct Composites: Layered vs. Single Shade; Improved Dentin Bonding Materials and Techniques; A Guide to Bioactive Materials; Age-Appropriate Restorations; Communicating with Patients Using Digital Photography; Smile Design Using the RED Proportion; Visagism-Personality Based Smile Design; Innovative Posts & Cores; and Selecting the Ideal All-Ceramic Materials.

After completing this course, participants should be better able to:

▪ use simplified single shade and layered composites to create beautiful anterior restorations

▪ select and use the latest highly-effective universal bonding agents to reduce sensitivity in posterior teeth

▪ utilize bioactive materials to create longer-lasting restorations

▪ effectively use digital dental photography to educate and motivate your patients to accept needed treatments

▪ design smiles that “fit” your patients’ faces using proportional and personality-based models, and

▪ choose between high-strength zirconia or high-translucent zirconia, and lithium di-silicate.
