Continuing Dental Education Courses

This course will provide you with the tools, materials, and techniques to allow you to create durable, predictable, and esthetic restorations for both posterior and anterior teeth. The hands-on workshop includes step-by-step bonding protocol form tooth cleaning to finishing, fabrication of simple and complex posterior and anterior teeth, composite restorations including essential matrix systems, and polishing techniques to high shine restorations.

Appearance and self-esteem have long been intertwined. So, as our social media and selfie culture continues to grow, it’s no surprise that more and more people are seeking out cosmetic dentistry as a way to enhance their appearances. The dental world has taken notice and we need to respond with conservative ways to satisfy our patient’s desires for ideal smiles.

The course will focus on 7 topics including immune-mediated lesions, traumatic lesions, radiographic lesions, pigmented oral lesions, skin lesions, neoplasms and infections. Numerous clinical images will be provided to give the clinician a thorough review of the selected topics. The instructors will review appropriate therapy and management suggestions of these lesions.

Attendees will participate in an in-depth dissection of the head, neck, and airway over a two-day period. Working in two-member teams, each participant will dissect half of a cadaver head. The head, neck, and airway will be dissected to demonstrate the relationship of structures to orofacial pain conditions including TMD and sleep breathing disorders. The group will focus on osteology, the oral cavity, the digastric triangle, and the TM joint.

With over a billion people worldwide, and nearly 30 million in the US breathing badly during sleep, the cost to quality of life and healthcare is unimaginable. Dentists are increasingly taking on some of the functions of primary care doctors as they see people more frequently and apply their long-held preventive focus. The field of sleep and breathing is a part of medicine readily available to the trained dentist.

This course contains two separate half day presentations. In the morning, Dr. Todd Snyder will present on Cosmetics and Veneers. In the afternoon, he will present on Smart Practices For Your Practice.

Dr. Thomas Viola will be presenting on three different topics about the knowledge of dental pharmacology and how it has never been more essential to patient care. These topics include, It's (Medically) Complicated, Waiting to inhale, and Hurts So... Swell.
