Give NOLA Day
Tuesday, May 1, 2018

All the funds - LACDE receives - plus additional "lagniappe" funds - will be donated to LSU School of Dentistry.

March 28, 2018 - New Orleans, LA

From the Director's Desk

Dear Alumni, Faculty and Friends:

LSU's CE program does business under the brand name LSU Health New Orleans Continuing Dental Education. Two organizations stand behind this brand: LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry (LSUSD) and The Louisiana Academy of Continuing Dental Education, Inc. (LACDE). LSU School of Dentistry depends on the State of Louisiana for a percentage of its funding. Unfortunately, this percentage has been decreasing. One of the strategic goals of LSUSD is to develop additional (new) sources of funding. LSUSD receives a small part of its overall funding from the State of Louisiana.

LACDE LogoLACDE receives no funding from the State of Louisiana or from LSU. LACDE is a self-sustaining, 501(c)(3), non-profit, private corporation that funds the annual operating budget of LSU Health New Orleans Continuing Dental Education. In addition, LACDE has made - and continues to make - significant cash and in-kind donations to LSUSD. So when you register for a CE course with LSU Health New Orleans CDE, you are helping to support LSUSD.

The Louisiana Academy of Continuing Dental Education, Inc. (d/b/a: LSU Health New Orleans Continuing Dental Education) is excited to be a part of Give NOLA Day for the fourth year in a row. Hosted by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, Give NOLA Day is a one-day, online giving event. When you visit to make an online donation to LACDE from 12:00:01 AM to 11:59:59 PM Central Time on May 1, 2018, LACDE will in turn donate all the funds it receives - plus additional "lagniappe" funds - to LSU School of Dentistry. Our goal is to still raise $25,000 each year through Give NOLA Day. Please help us make this goal. Last year you donated $7,320. Thank you!

In the paragraphs below, you will learn how easy it is to participate in Give NOLA Day. You can give on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 or you can make a prescheduled donation from April 24th through April 30th (until 11:59 pm). Thank you for helping us to help LSU School of Dentistry.

About Give NOLA Day 2018

How Much of Your Donation Will Go to LSU School of Dentistry?

Your donation is 100% tax deductible. You will immediately receive an e-mail from the Greater New Orleans Foundation confirming your donation. Your donation cannot be applied to a specific program at LSU School of Dentistry. At least 95% of your donation goes directly to LSU School of Dentistry. The 5% difference covers the cost of the online technology provider, Civicore, as well as credit card processing fees. LSU will receive 100% of any lagniappe funds, prizes or hourly giveaways earned. LACDE and The Greater New Orleans Foundation do not receive any portion of these transaction fees or any portion of your donation.

There are Two Ways to Donate
You can donate on Give NOLA Day (on May 1, 2018) or you can pre-schedule your donation.

If You Give on May 1, 2018
Donations can only be made by credit or debit card using your computer, smart phone, or tablet at on May 1, 2018 from 12:00:01 AM to 11:59:59 PM Central Time.

On the website, search for "LACDE" and click on "The Louisiana Academy of Continuing Dental Education, Inc.,"  or go to our direct URL: and the LACDE donation page will come up. Fill in your contact and payment information and enter the dollar amount of your donation. Donations begin at $10. Anonymous donations are accepted. Since all online donations are processed by the Greater New Orleans Foundation, your credit or debit card statement will reflect this. You will receive an immediate e-mail confirming your donation from GNOF.

If You Make a Pre-scheduled Donation
Give NOLA Day implemented a fairly new feature. Starting on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 you can pre-schedule a donation (this is only allowed during the week before Give NOLA Day). If you're traveling or need more time to make a donation, you have the option to pre-schedule your donation to be processed on May 1, 2018. Starting April 24 through April 30 (until 11:59 pm), you can pre-schedule your donation on our Give NOLA Day profile page here.

Broad Participation is Key

Please consider helping LACDE so it can help LSU School of Dentistry. Broad participation is essential. If we all give something, the $25,000 annual goal can be reached. Below is a breakdown of how this goal can be achieved. Pick a category that works for you.

LACDE will receive its percentage of lagniappe funds based on its percentage of the total dollars raised using the following formula: Donations Raised by LACDE (divided by) Total Donations Raised by All Participating Non-Profits = LACDE's % of Total Lagniappe Dollars.
