IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING: ORAL (ENTERAL) SEDATION INTRODUCTION COURSES
Effective May 22, 2017, the CE hour requirements will increase to 60 credit hours to obtain a permit (not renew a permit) to administer moderate sedation with enteral drugs to adult patients only, to adult and pediatric patients, or to pediatric patients only. If you are considering making oral sedation a part of your practice, now is the time to register for one of the introduction courses listed above in order to obtain a permit.

The Louisiana State Board of Dentistry mandates that it receive by Monday, May 22, 2017 the following: all documentation, fees, and certifications required to obtain a permit. If you have questions, please call the State Board office at (504) 568-8574.

Note: To avoid missing the Monday, May 22, 2017 deadline in order to obtain a permit, the State Board suggests you turn in all your documentation and certifications before taking either one of the introduction courses.

Introducing AnytimeCE from LSU Health New Orleans Continuing Dental Education, an online computer-based training (CBT) system that allows you to take CE courses online any time from your home, office, or anywhere! Click here to register for a CBT course.

The first two CBT courses are available NOW - a one-hour course on Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office and a one-hour course on Orofacial Pain. (Other one-hour CBT course topics will be introduced during 2016-2017). Register for one or both courses today by creating an account using your email address as your username and creating a password. Click here for instructions on creating your account (make sure to allow pop-ups and have the latest version of flash player).

Once you create an account, it is easy to login any time and register for a CBT course. So you can log back in if you get logged out, be sure to make a note of your username and the password you created. You have 10 days from the date of your registration to complete a CBT course.

During the course, you will be asked to respond to questions covering the topic. These questions must be answered before continuing. At the end of the course, you are required to complete a 10-question knowledge assessment and course evaluation before receiving course credit. After completing the evaluation, print out or save your Verification of Participation letter as a PDF. Because CBT courses are available any time, all AnytimeCE course registrations must be completed online. During 2017, LSU CDE has scheduled a live video-conference option (marked "VC" on the calendar) for seven different, seven-hour, CE courses each streaming live from one of four Louisiana cities. If you live 150 miles or more outside one of these cities, you can attend these courses live via video conferencing on your laptop or desktop computer, receive live CE course credit, and ask questions as if you are at the live course.
