Overview & Learning Objectives

Differential Diagnosis of White Lesions: Harmless or Serious? (Morning Topic) This lecture will provide dental professionals a review of a broad spectrum of white lesions
that may be encountered in the oral cavity. Numerous clinical images will be provided to give the clinician a thorough review
of benign, premalignant and malignant pathologic processes. Drs. Cordell & Rosebush will review appropriate therapy and management of these lesions.

After attending this lecture, participants should be better
able to:

  • Recognize clinical features of a spectrum of white oral lesions including entities from benign white lesions, premalignant white lesions, malignant white lesions
  • Diagnose and be familiar with how to treat a variety of common and/or significant white oral lesions
  • Recognize indications for referral

The Many Causes of Oral Ulcers (Afternoon Topic)
This lecture will provide dental professionals a review of the
wide variety of ulcers that may be encountered in the oral
cavity. Numerous clinical images will be provided to give the clinician a thorough review of oral ulcers and their causes including traumatic, infectious, immune-mediated and
neoplastic. Drs. Cordell & Rosebush will review appropriate therapy and management of these lesions.

After attending this lecture, participants should be better
able to:

  • Recognize clinical features of a spectrum of oral ulcers including entities from these categories: traumatic, infections, immune-mediated, neoplastic.
  • Diagnose and be familiar with how to treat or manage patients with ulcers resulting from traumatic, infectious, immune-mediated and/or neoplastic
  • Recognize indications for referral.

About the Presenters

Kitrina Cordell, DDS, MS is Chair of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at LSU School of Dentistry (LSUSD). Dr. Cordell earned her DDS and MS in oral and maxillofacial pathology from The Ohio State University. Dr. Cordell is member of the North American Society of Head and Neck Pathology, a tripartite member of the American Dental Association, a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Molly Rosebush, DDS, MS is an Associate Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at LSU School of Dentistry (LSUSD). She completed her DDS at the University of Michigan and a residency in oral and maxillofacial pathology at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Rosebush serves as director of the LSU Oral Pathology Biopsy Service. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

 

Course Location

This course will be held at LSU School of Dentistry at 1100 Florida Avenue in New Orleans, Louisiana located in the Mid-City area of New Orleans near beautiful City Park and historic Bayou St. John. If you are staying at a downtown hotel in or near the French Quarter, the distance to the dental school is approximately five miles. If you are driving to the dental school, free parking is available in the patient and visitor parking lots located across from the dental school.

Please make your own airline and hotel reservations as soon as possible because New Orleans is busy with many events and conventions at this time of year. Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is located approximately 30-40 minutes by taxi from both downtown New Orleans and LSU School of Dentistry. For your return flight, please allow about 90 minutes for the trip to the airport and for airline check-in.
