Overview & Learning Objectives

This course is for Perio Residents and Periodontists preparing to take the Oral Exam (Part II) for certification by the American Board of Periodontology; practicing periodontists looking for a comprehensive review and an update in periodontics; and general dentists and dental specialists who are interested in periodontics. After completing the 2½ day comprehensive literature review and update course followed by the 1½ day mock oral board exams, participants will:

  • Be better prepared to explain current concepts, particularly as they relate to management of patients with advanced periodontal diseases and dental implant therapy
  • Understand new developments and specific topics covered in this overall review and update in periodontics
  • Be knowledgeable of systemic diseases' influences on periodontal disease, patient management, and periodontal medicine
  • Understand how to manage office emergencies and the diagnosis of oral lesions. 
  • Have improved oral test-taking skills and self-confidence.

About the Presenters

This course is led by course director Bryan S. Pearson, DDS, MS, clinical professor in the department of periodontics at LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. Approximately twelve additional course faculty members from across the country also participate in lectures and in conducting the mock oral board exams.

Cancellation & Refund Policy: The Louisiana Academy of Continuing Dental Education, Inc. (d/b/a: LSU Health New Orleans Continuing Dental Education) reserves the right to cancel any course should circumstances warrant such action. If a course is canceled, the Academy will refund the full tuition. If you cancel your registration, the Academy will refund the tuition you paid (minus an administrative cancellation fee). We must receive your written cancellation request no later than December 29, 2020 by mail, fax at (504) 941-8403, or email at CDE@lsuhsc.edu. If LSU Health New Orleans CDE receives notification of your cancellation after the specified deadline, this will result in forfeiture of your entire tuition.
